Not Really Me
24" x 60"
Acrylic
This painting has several paintings under it that were gessoed over. I started out doing huge faces but wasn't happy with the compositions, so I decided to use more of the figure. I of course gave myself a bit of a face lift and carved off a few pounds, I consider this artistic license. A nine-year old girl walked up to me at the opening where this was hanging and said "That is you" and pointed at my painting, so I guess it resembles me enough for her. Enjoyed the process, once I got the concept down it came together pretty easily. I find it pretty hard to see myself accurately, and don't think I have here, but I absolutely refuse to paint what I actually see, it is just too depressing.
