My life drawing group meets on Thursdays and we draw for five hours. Well, that is, when we are not talking or eating. Erica, a terrific model (in the drawing above) is the daughter of one of the artists in our group. She went off to college to study forensic science, how fun is that? She was preceded by Amy, who left us to go back to her senior year in high school. Now we have Laurie, another really good model.
When we first started the group everyone brought their lunch. Then, gradually, people started bringing a little more, maybe a bunch of seedless green grapes to share, or a tasty avocado dip with pita. Now it seems we have evolved into a buffet of sorts. There is usually fruit, often humus, someone will bring crackers, last week a veggie tray, olives, pickles, fresh locally grown organic tomatoes, salsa, brie, fresh pineapple, and our new model Laurie brought three dozen farm fresh eggs.
It feels fabulous to be back to drawing the figure regularly with a group of artists. It is my absolute favorite thing on earth. There is just something about a life drawing group. And of course there's the food.
