Finished - Art in the Pages
The project is finished. Finally. That is, the Fairfax County Library Foundation's Art in the Pages Project, for which I painted three sculptures (27 sculptures in all, so far, were commissioned to area artists). The pieces are now placed in front of businesses, libraries, and government offices around Fairfax County. After an average of ten hours a day every day except one since March 22, and ending April 24, I feel like I have been released from jail, some kind of painter's jail. The freedom is exhilirating. I have let everything go, and feel unconnected from the real world (which seems pretty much to be dominated right now by the Hillary-Obama battles so I have not missed much – it's like a soap opera – you can leave for a month and come back and they're pretty much up to the same shenanigans as when I checked out). My sculptures have already been delivered to their library homes. I actually have a final top coat to put on "First Lines" and will do that in a day or so. We had house guests (sad to see them go, hadn't seen them in so long) and a dinner party, so really am just now back to my usual quiet exisitence of reading, painting, watching TV, picking at my fingernails, wondering what my dogs are thinking, and contemplating the universe (which is probably what my dogs are doing too). At least TIVO allowed me to stay up to date with American Idol. The project was a lot of fun and I met some really nice people. Below are photos of the finished pieces.
